If you’re part of a salary sacrifice scheme and waiting for your new car to be delivered then you should read this. Our experts have put together a guide on everything you need to know before you take delivery of your new car.
There are a few steps that you’ll need to take between looking at the salary sacrifice scheme your company offers and getting delivery of a brand new car.
Firstly, you want to make sure all the necessary paperwork is in place both between yourself and your employer and your employer and the lease funder.
If your new car is being arranged by the team here at Xcite Salary Sacrifice then we’ll keep you updated as the order progresses and let you know once all the documents are in place.
The second thing you’ll want to do is make sure you know what the car will cost you (the cost will be deducted from your wages) and any financial implications. Depending on how your scheme is set up reducing your take home pay could also affect:
We always recommend that you are mindful of these potential changes to your wages outside of the cost of the car, and how they will impact your personal budget, reviewing it at various points in the journey. Once you know the specific car you are interested in you, and your payroll team, will be able to confirm these numbers so then is a good point to review the financial impact.
Once all of the documents have been signed and approved the next step will be arranging delivery. Depending on the car you are getting, and where in the build and transport journey it is this can be anywhere from a few days to a few months after the finance documents are completed.
If your vehicle is with us then we will regularly request updates on your car from the dealer and pass these onto you as we get them. As soon as the car arrives in stock we’ll be able to start making delivery arrangements with you directly.
Something to be aware of is that a lot of lease funders will only allow delivery to the registered business address or a driver’s home address as per their application.

When delivery is arranged it will generally be an all day slot, some may provide an am or pm estimated slot but this is not guaranteed as there are various factors such as weather and traffic that could affect the delivery. The dealerships we work with advise their drivers to give a call when they are about an hour away from the delivery location, this is so that you have a more accurate eta than if they were to call in the morning and so that you can arrange to be available at the expected arrival time.
You may be required to show ID upon delivery. If someone else is going to be accepting delivery of your new car on your behalf then you’ll need to let us know beforehand so that we can make sure everything is in place with the dealership’s delivery company.
When the driver arrives at your delivery location they will talk you through the handover paperwork and allow you to fully inspect the vehicle before you sign the documents. Please ensure you do fully inspect the car, and note anything you spot on the handover paperwork, this will ensure accurate records of the vehicle’s condition when you accepted delivery of it.
Once you have signed for the vehicle you will be given the keys and the car is now yours.
It may take a week or two for the paperwork to be processed but this will not stop you from using your car and if you need any assistance in getting information for parking permits or similar then our team can help.
You do. If your car is being arrange through Xcite Salary Sacrifice then our team will liaise with you and the appropriate department (HR or Fleet Management) in your business to arrange delivery at the best time for you, in line with your company’s expectations.
Yes, you will usually be able to have delivery to your home address. It will need to be your current home address, which matches your address as provided at the time of application.
We would recommend you being the one to take delivery of your car, as this allows you to inspect the vehicle on arrival and ask any questions you might have. If you’re not able to take delivery then there may be circumstances when a trusted colleague or relative may be able to accept delivery on your behalf. Our team will let you know if that’s the case and what might be required of them.
When your new car arrives you’ll be asked to inspect it for any damage or issues. This will usually involve you taking the time to look at the exterior and interior of the vehicle and noting anything of concern on the handover paperwork from the driver.
We take every measure we can with our suppliers and dealers to make sure that your car arrives without any issues but if there a flaw you want to be sure to mark it on the handover paperwork so it’s properly recorded.
